I'd suggest bigger rocks in a taller aquarium like that. Usually iwagumi's show great open space thus using shallower tanks. Like for example, one would prefer a 20 gallon long rather than a 20 gallon high for an iwagumi.

Also the rocks are the same color as the substrate so it looks bland.

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice sandiegoryu.

Well I got these rocks from HK and it can't be big or else my luggage will be overweight (damn air canada lowering from 75pounds to 50).

I don't think the blend between the rocks and the soil will be noticed after the plants fill up. I also raised the rocks from the soil a bit now so the main rock will kind of reach the mid point.

That tank does not lend itself to an iwagumi scape but it is exiting to see if you can pull it off. the rocks must be taller with the tallest rock above the half way point to make it look proportional to the tank. I suggest finding bigger rock. CRS are very sensitive to water parameters. I would cycle the tank at least 3 weeks with many water changes cuz aquasoil leaches amonia in the beginning. make sure you have an adequate filter for those shrimp. I hope you have another tank for those CRS during the cycle. Good luck hope your tank looks great.

I agree with you guys as the lava rocks are a bit too small. Also, a bigger tank will be a better choice for an Iwagumi scape.

When I recieve the shrimp I'll put them in my other shrimp tank. Thank you for pointing out the errors in my scape; next time when I go to big al's i'll look for bigger rocks. At least now I can learn what characteristics are needed in this type of scape, this scape will help me learn what to improve next time and won't make the same mistake I did on this and hopefully will be better. Also what kind of rocks are there that will not raise th GH?

Here are my 13 grade C-B CRS. I'm really happy to have these since they are very rare in eastern part of Canada.

Dripping tank water in.
