20 gallon long

Hey all,

I just got a 20 gallon long (which I have always wanted!) at petsmarts $1 a gallon sale. I have been collecting the stuff I need to do a planted tank. I have so far the stuff to make my MTS and a black sand cap. So I still have a bunch to buy. When I get it all I will start my first tank journal.
My question is: Can Bolivian Rams and Juliochromis (sp.) exist together? They are the fish I am most in love with and I would love them in my high tech planted tank! Any advice would be appreciated.

thanks
Teddy

I'd suggest putting your question in the "Fish" section to get more views and better chance of an answer.

Due to photobuckets new bs cost for use of images on forums I have deleted all photobucket accounts. I apologize if you enjoyed or found my photos helpful.

Bolivian Rams and Julidochromis sp. “regani kipili” are sadly not compatible. Julidochromis sp. “regani kipili” prefer more alkaline water (they come from Lake Tanganyika) while Bolivian rams prefer more softer water. I would recommend getting a pair of Rams, then you could get a bottom dweller like Cories and a schooling fish like Glowlite Tetra, Neon Tetra, or Cardinal Tetra. Also take a look at apistos, they sort of resemble Julidochromis sp. “regani kipili” and are compatible with Bolivian Rams.
