New to the forum and already in need of all your help :P
I did a ton of research about setting up emersed tanks to get plants going before flooding the tank. I decided to try this method with HC Cuba - want to get a really nice carpet going.
I got a few pots and I planted them all in slightly different ways to see if that would affect anything - little experiment for future knowledge. Cotton was removed entirely for one pot, for another pot the roots are still attached to the cotton, then the remaining pots I cut up into smaller pieces. I'm in no hurry to get the whole carpet done so I didn't plant it in super small 'bunches' like many people do.
The tank is misted every morning when the lights turn on. Lights turn on at 8AM and go out at 11PM. I have the tank covered with plastic wrap to keep the humidity up. I purchased the light from a specialist store for aquascaping and he said this light was great for Cuba. He had it set up on a bunch of his tanks as well.
Things were going great for the first 5 days, I had already noticed growth. Then the next morning I noticed some leaves going brown, and now its happening quite a bit. I've attached pictures to show you. It started on just one 'bunch' and is now happening on a second as well.
Questions that come to mind:
1. Is there too much water in the tank?
2. Is the light on for too long?
3. Is this the plant switching from submerged to emersed?
5. I suck and the plants hate me?
Should I just flood the thank and pump in CO2 to salvage the situation?
Main plant that I noticed the issue with
No issue with the plant in the back
Thank-you all in advanced for your help. Appreciate it.
