Awesome looking stones and nice extension!

Since you havent purchased the 12gal long yet, I was wondering are you going to be buying the regular one or the new low iron one they are coming out with before the end of the year? :P

Thanks! I think I will buy the low iron one if I don't get too antsy by then. I will also be making a hinged light suspension unit to go above my tank. I have a feeling that my new planted plus will have too much light on the rim. It will also be easier to get into the tank.

Yea it will be a ton of light on the rim as stated in the other thread, but could be managed. I'm sure, though, if you can build a whole mantle piece making something to hang the light shouldnt be that hard.

And +1 for it looking nicer because you would be able to see the top of the tank and have easy maintenance and access inside.

LOW IRON 12 GAL LONG! I cant wait to see it!!! This is the tank I was waiting for but then I got antsy and ended up getting a 60F :P

Thanks for the nice compliments!

I just drafted up the design this morning and I think I have it figured out now. I will start with 16in above the substrate at around 40 Par dosing excel and a EI dosing regiment after 3 months of dry start.

During the dry start period I will put the Planted Plus on the rim then raise it after everything is submersed.

Do you know when the low iron 12 long comes out?

Well the post on the sevenports forum said before the holidays... so we shall see.

I just saw your filter selection and was going to make a comment. Since you have lilies I dont know if that filter will provide enough flow the whole way through the tank since is it is SO long. I've seen some people use the jet powerful pipe lily but still a bigger filter.

Jake has a 12gal long and he was trying liles with a 2217 and it wasnt enough flow. Check it out here.

Just wanted to try to save you from buying the wrong filter since you havent bought it yet.

Purchase

I purchased two 2x4' light diffusers from Menards today. They will be cut and used to ensure my hills in my substrate don't move and settle. Im really excited to start this tank but I need to wait until Christmas....

Nice! Christmas because you're waiting for the tank right?

Maybe cut one of those diffusers to the base of the tank and start building on that (without dirt). Then when the tank comes in you can just drop the whole scape in.

That is if you're excited to start
