10g Planted tank

So it has officially begun my voyage into nano planted tanks. so here is what I have as far as equipment:

Filter: Tetra Whisper 30
Lighting: two 13 watt CLF
Substrate: Caribsea eco complete
Co2 Fluval 20g mini. (Cant return it to amazon so I figured I would try it for a while)

Fauna:

Two glow-lite tetras
Cherry Shrimp
Dwarf hair-grass

The beginning made a divider using Plexiglas and silicone. to keep sand and substrate separate. Added some rocks and drift wood then added the hair grass. In the last picture I added my little buddies. I don't have a camera so I had to use my camera phone. I shall keep you updated.

I am thinking about adding a bushy plant or swords? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I like the way you divided up the two sides with sand.

110g Tropical Community & Sakura Shrimp
55g BN Breeding Grounds, Peacock Gudgeons, Panda, Pygmies, & Smudge Spot Cories, Rili Shrimp
10g RCS and show guppies

I like it too, but it would look a lot nicer without the little stones.

Looks extremely similar to mine! Haha. Eco complete split by white sand with plexiglass. Might wanna consider buying more rocks or using a moss to cover the plexiglass split. I just bought a small bucket of rocks at petsmart and lined em up. Kept them away from the right side though as I plan on the carpet covering that.

Looks like a good start though!

its hard to tell from the pictures but you can not see the plexi glass at all. the sand is covering it. they stones are there to keep the substrate from moving onto my sand. At least until the carpet has formed.

I want to add a bushy plant or a sword. any suggestions?

Should I be using ferts?

I was worried about how mine was going to come out as well. But I figured I had to start somewhere. I wish I still had my 55 gallon. You can do a whole lot more with them. Though far more expensive.

update!
1 week in and things are looking good. Added a male Guppy, 3 more glolite tetra, 2 ghost shrimp and an umbrella plant! I think its starting to carpet a little.

I trimmed the tops of the hair-grass too. I hear it promotes growth out not up!

The gravel kept getting on the sand and it didn't look nice so I got rid of it. I bought a plant combo from petco. It contained 2 swords and 2 what I think are bamboo. So here is what it looks like now. Also moved the dwarf grass up.

The snails I got are working wonders on the algae. What do you think?

One thing to watch out for, most pet stores say Lucky Bamboo is fully aquatic, but in practice, the leaves should be above the waterline. Looks nice....

I ended up doing a similar look using a different color of gravel for my path instead of sand... its held up a little better, but its still slowly merging with other stuff...

Yeah I thought about that too. what I like about it now is that I can add more plants. Hopefully the swards and the bamboo will be okay. I ordered some root tabs I am hoping that will speed up my hairgrass carpet formation.

Update! Got a nice new piece of driftwood! The dwarf grass is starting to carpet too. And did I mention shrimp! I am starting to get addicted to dwarf shrimp. Wish my tank was larger so I could get even more!
