VJM's Bowl Fever

I saw a lot of threads featuring beautiful bowls that stopped me in my tracks. I had no idea that bowls could come larger than the terrible goldfish bowl you see at Petsmart/co.

I caught the bowl fever.

Looked all over the web (surprisingly challenging to get dimensions, or even find something larger), and could not fins something suitable for less than about $49.00. Seemed a bit much.

Went to Michael's, only two tiny bowls on the shelves. Booo.

Went to Homegoods, but nothing large enough, and in the right shape. Booo.

Went back to Michael's, and lo and behold! There it was! The bowl of my dreams! Only $12. Yay!!!!!

Got it home and washed all grub off it with a vinegar solution. Some leftover Aquasoil in the bottom, with some leftover Mr. Aqua soil. Hooked up a Zoo Med 501, added some driftwood (tied together with plastic wrap until I have time to get some superglue gel), tossed in some DWL, and left it to cycle.

Next challenge: whoa, hello distortion! Manipulating perspective in here is going to be interesting.

Here's the process:

I, too, have bowl fever. :P Yours has a good start, what will you be stocking it with? I can't wait to grab one of my own!

An Endler will look like a Blood Parrot lol.
That thing looks like 3-4 gallons? Any plans to try it without a filter?
Anyways, enjoy and welcome to the bowl madness.

I wish I had measured the gallon size before I set it up, but alas. I would guess about 4 gallons.

For now, it is coming to the office to be a new home for one of the office bettas (upgrade from his 2.5g Petco special). Not to be morbid, but once he is no longer among the living, I would love to have something like ember tetras in here.

I like the filterless idea A LOT, so I will have to do some reading on that. It makes me a little nervous, but I could see doing it eventually.
