My 2.5g planted tank!

Hey guys, I just set up a 2.5g planted tank. It's still a work in progress and needs a filter and what not. Let me know what you think!

Lighting:
13w Clip Lamp

Substrate:
Soil capped with play sand

Plants:
Red root floaters
Java fern tied to rocks (not sure what type they are)
HM for foreground (I'm thinking about switching to staurogyne repens)
Any plant suggestions?

Shrimps:
Red cherry shrimps after tank is established

Water is still a bit cloudy, I just ordered a HOB filter off amazon, can't wait!

Moss, Wisteria, Water Sprite and Sagittaria I think are the only plants that will grow with the light you have. If you double you light I think Chinese Ivy, Pennywort, and Staurogyne Repens will grow.

You can probably get some ambulia in there. I've grown them in low light. Also you may want to try some crypts.

considering it's a 2.5 gallon, you did pretty well with the rock layout and plant choice. do try to find plants that will be proportional to the scape. this will allow the tank to look bigger than it really is. looking forward to seeing this one fill out.

s. repens, downoi from petsmart stay smaller and grow slower than the ones you get from real people, so for this size tank they would be great.

Stargrass if clipped low looks really great as a carpet and would look awesome in a tank this size but it is picky and may need more light than you currently have. Who knows, some of my stargrass is growing great in a lower light and some of it in the higher light is unhappy. Seems to be a finicky plant so far.
