My New 30gal

Hi. I am new to planted tanks in general. I have kept reef tanks for about 3 years and I recently converted my 30gal reef to a PT. I have 2x 36" Coralife FW Aqualight t-5 (42w each). I am using a new Emperor 280 Bio-Wheel instead of the sump system I had. I've read here mixed opinions about using the Bio-Wheel so I will test and see how it works for me. The substrate is Eco-Complete but the lfs only had one bag left. I will set up a CO2 system when my wallet recovers. When I feel the water is stable I will move my Platy's from the 10gal here. Here is a pic. Any comments are apreciated.

Thanks

I really like the look. Looking forward to seeing it filled in. One thing. I would lose the rock on the right.

Hi. I'm still not satisfied with the look of the rock but it was the only one that I had laying around. I will probably change it for a more interesting one.

I think you should just focus on that nice wood. the rock just is distracting.

rocks are best arranged in 3's, so 1 or 2 are just a distraction.
let your wood and gravel be the canvas, then paint with plants.
because the wood is so detailed, use a dark black or blue background.

Hi. When the rock was removed I felt something was missing. I guess when I learn more about plants I will aquascape the tank with plants in mind.I don't really care for the background but my GF wanted it. What she doesn't know is that tall background plants will cover it anyway The wood came from a friend that bought it years ago for a 90g that he never set up. Last week he offered me $50 for helping him move an aquarium for a customer and I convinced him to give me the wood instead. In the end I got the wood, a couple of drinks and a meal.
