I forgot to mention that both tanks have been set up recently, well the 2.5G was setup last night hehe but, the 55G has been messed with a lot lately so the plants haven't been really able to settle in.

The loach is just hanging out, hehe, amazing how friendly they are.

The plants seem to be doing great, the egeria najas has grown a lot and much thicker and darker now, the cabomba is also much darker and thriving. I think Im going to pick up some flourish this weekend and see if that makes any difference.

I really screwed up the 2.5G with what I did. I need to move the stem plants over to the 55G and find a driftwood or rock center piece for this tank and then just grow a low level carpeting plant with maybe one larger plant in the corner or something.

I kind of fixed the 2.5G

I just removed everything except for the red ludwigia and three stems of rotala in the foreground. It looks less cluttered and will fill it more naturally I assume but, I'd still like to rescape with a lawn in mind if this doesn't look good grown in.
