75 gallon after 5 months ( slight 56K warn )

well here is an update on my 75 gallon discus hut. the look of it has changed a lot from what i wanted to do originally buit i like it. i think. the big apongenton crispus in the right corner pi$$es me off for some reason i have yet to decide on, mainly i think it looks out of place. if anyone wants one, lemme know. Other then that im happy with it. the crispus does do a good job of covering the UV sterilizer i have in there now, due to some water clarity issues. it is working ever so slowly but getting the job done. all questions, comments, concerns are welcome. i would enjoy any feedback. i think around the end of the year im going to upgrade to some more lighting, still debating on what to get/do but i have time to figure it out. here are the pictures.

Also, remember this is a low tech tank. there is no co2, minimal ferts and pretty basic lighting ( exactly 2 wpg or so )

This tank looks fantastic. I don't feel my eye being pulled and getting stuck to one spot in particular. The layout allows me to view and love it all. And the fish are great. Look healthy and they seem to appreciate the tank. Now, not to contradict myself, I do agree that the crispus is out of place. I just feel like it doesn't flow into the middlegroud then the foreground well. I feel like it's shadow is a big domination. I say yank it and try something else.

Wow the tank looks real good. I would be very proud with a planted tank and discus tank all in one. You did a great job and I love your heckels they are very large.

Lilies are difficult plants to work with as well-- the other plants just can't compete with the "largeness" of the plant. It does carry a good consistancy when use with cryptocorenes like this though.

wow unbelievable, very natural looking, probably the best non Co2 tanks I have ever seen. I like the apon, and the tetras look happy under it.

I wouldn't mess with the lighting, without CO2 more lighting will cause problems. Been there, done that. Crypts melting, algae etc.

NICE! Looks very lush

What are your target nitrate levels?

I upgraded my lighting and I ended up using it on a whole new tank. My Discus didnt like the new lights too much. Weird it was almost the same wattage but they were really spooked for days until I removed it.

thanks for the kind words everyone.

to answer a couple comments/questions:

the lighting wouldnt be upped very much from what itis now. right now its right at 2 wpg. i want to bump it just up to 2.5 or so. that works good for me in my other tanks without the use of co2.

target nitrate? hehe. i dunno..wherever it is now. haha. i honestly havent tested it more then 2-3 times since i set it up just to check the pH which i should mention is 6.5. but yeah, no idea about nitrates. i dose CSM+B now and then

but all in all i am happy with it. and the fish seem to like it too. but thank you all again for the kind words.

Love it. Especially the discus (2nd from left) and your midground.

In college....so no aquariums for a while.....

Nice, very nice..

At first I thought it was in your bathroom. At first glance the bucket and wastecan looked like a toilet.
