need ideas for my tank

Hi
This is my discus tank and I feel like I could change something to make it better looking. Any ideas?

i like carpeting plants too but I don't think they are the right choice for a discus tank. The temperature is pretty high so I've got only plants that tolerate it (echinodorus, anubias, ...) I've wanted to have valisneria in the back but it doesn't want to grow

How about Crinum thaianum onion plant.....it has the same basic look as vals, and will grow better with the lower P.H.

it's an interresting idea but it wouldn't be easy to change that now
and if I just put a layer of black sand on the top it would all mix when I vacuum around.

I'll try to get that from the lfs. I wanted to put the valisnerias for background but I don't know why they just don't grow up, They propagate very quickly and have come to the front of the tank but they don't want to go up.
I'll try to split the big echinodorus which is doing excellent and plant it one the left.

If you want the tall, strappy look of the vals and they won't grow, how about some of the tall skinny crypts. Sprialis or retrospiralis both grow easily. Balsanae doesn't grow as fast (for me), but is beautiful. Hygro angustifolia isn't exactly the same, but give a similar impression and is also pretty easy.
