Kahuna's Revenge (30+ days away OK - NOT!) (56k!)

Unlike some of my on-line transgressions in the past, I promise to keep this thread faithful to being a photo-journal. Not a text journal! So I'm gonna start with a single pic. A teaser if you will...

This is the new tank at night, with the new night-lights on.

Obviously it's up and running (!!!!) - has been for a few days. Now is that patient, anxious time, the first few weeks - feels kinda like waiting on a baby if you have ever been there... everything is cool at the moment, but could change for the worse real quickly any second now.

Any day now this could be a tank full of green soup. Or worse. So I'm gonna hold off on the daylight pics (which BTW do look much better IMO) for a while. I'll wait till everything is stable.

I just wanted to post this to let you know I'm still very much in the game, and hope to have something decent to show you very soon. And having a gawd awful good time getting rolling again!

Till then...

Steve - 33g reef and a 180g planted in need of a re-scape.

No coasters this time. That's a promise!

Maybe I shouldn't have posted anything, because I'm not intending on an update for quite a while. I'm not gonna wait until the tank is fully mature, but I do want to wait until it gets it's legs, is healthy. And I might... might, wait until it is fully stocked with fish. I'm not sure about that though, as that is going to take a while. But I also am certain that this is one that could be made/broken by the right choice of fish.

All you can really see here is that there is a lot of grow-in to do. It's not a flat aquascape by any means, and I got my hands on a pretty good bit of excellent driftwood.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'll work up some pics of the tank as it was being built. But I'm holding off on actual planted shots until it's ready.

Hey, what kind of algae causes that green glow like that?

Best of luck, waiting (and it sounds like it will be a while) for the update and "daylight" pics...
