45g tall... is it even possible??? (56k Warning!!!)

I just wanted to Show everyone a rundown of what I have done already.
The tank measurments are 36*12*24 It is in my room (im 15) so Asthetics don't matter so
the lighting is 4 4' bulbs which overhang enough to light some nearbye plants.
DIY co2 is also being added and I noticed pearling VERY often.

The tank houses:

6 "feeder Rosey reds"
2 small angelfish
2 Swordtails
10 or so Grass shrimp

The plants include:

"walmart wonder bulbs"
-Water lily
-Aponogeton
Combomba Carolina
Anacharis
Red Ludwigia
Wendtii Crypt
Amazon sword - and baby one
Java fern
Java moss

My last attempt at a planted tank... in its "prime"

The 21st - April

The 22nd April ---- Its starting to clear up a tad.

Your background is cool. Did you do it yourself? I hope you didn't prune your plants so much that you weakened them before they could get a foothold in your tank.

If I could harness the power of the sun, I'd focus it on my plants and watch them grow.

No no. They are nice and well established And yes. I did the background myself.... I forgot that I did... I didn't like the total black I did on the 20L too dark and gloomy.

That tank just screams swords and aponogetons. Why not add a few?

In college....so no aquariums for a while.....

Wow....24"

Yer plantin topless right?

Tanks lookin good so far. I wouldn't be trimming everything even, but trimming what grows the fastest lower.

With a 24'' height, you have a lot of room for stems in the back an medium growers mid ground, slow grower up front for sure. Less time trimming.

I agree with comments above. In a tank that high, you really do have to get some taller plants to fill in the back. Otherwise it's going to look very empty.

What you have so far is good but it could be put in a tank half the size and would fit in fine. USE THE OTHER SPACE! Get driftwood climbing up there, put some jungle vals in! Anything!

Good luck.

??

Thanks. Im still looking for some vals because I know they grow FAST and are very tall. My plan though is for it to be Like 2 islands on both sides and leding to a Gigantic show sword off centered. I think that should give some place for the eyes to follow and the Illusion of depth. Sound like it might work? Also. Do you think the Anacharis seems to be misplaced? It seems to me that its calling out "buy more of me and plant a BUNCH in the back left" The move the Combomba Carolina to the Back right with the rest - suggestions?

Excellent. For your tank, I highly recommend giant vals over american/italian/spiral vals. They have a more brilliant green color, and will not get ratty as they reach the top. They also are easier to control. If I still had mine, I'd offer you some.

Not a lot of 45 tall planted tanks out there.
