10gal tall rescape 9/4/06

The tank: 10gal tall, Hagen CO2, 11w CF light, Interpet liquid ferts every 2 days

I have finally got some java moss in there now, which took ages to come in the post! I have attached it with cotton around the branch bit and around the base of the anubias wood. it is also on the rock on the left hand side.
I am hoping that when it fills in it will look really nice!
Just a quick question, how long should i leave the cotton white it attaches?

I have propagated my hygro(?) to make four new plants at the front, and have thinned out the vallis at the back.

i am quite pleased with my latest DIY venture. i have attached my leftover Fluval piping to my Hydor pipes to give more flexibility, and attached my Juwel flow thing to the end and put my Hagen CO2 pipe in it to disperse the bubbles! Confusing?????

SoÖ I am really pleased with the way things are going as I only have 11w of light!
Please let me know what you think!

You can leave the thread there for a while. The moss should attach itself after a week or so. I had rubber bands on mine and after 2 weeks when I cut the rubber bands to take them out, the moss was so attached to the wood that I really had to pull hard to take the rubber bands out. But in your case, you can probably leave the thread in. Once the moss grows over it you won't even notice it. They should fill in nicely.

Only thing I would've done is to spread the moss out a little more. That way it can get more light. When you bunch it up, the bottom doesn't get as much light as the top part. BUt it does seem that you didn't put much so it shouldn't be a problem.

But you sure did tie that moss down.

It looks good. I've never tried the co2 set up you have with the powerhead. Let me know how it goes.

Is there a way to get more light into the tank? If you have an 11W in a 10 gallon, you could possibly be getting less than 1watt per gallon because of restrike, poor reflectance, and the such. If there's a way to get more light I think you'd be much happier with the growth.

If I could harness the power of the sun, I'd focus it on my plants and watch them grow.

I completey forget out my threads, and I use black so it's not so noticeable, after a while it degrades anyway, but depending on how fast your moss grows, I'd leave it untill you need to trim your moss.

Like drops of fertiliser into the tank, so are the days of our CO2...

I want to find some narrow leaf java fern for the right hand side

the moss has filled in a bit since last time and is almost attached

anubias has had a trim - anyone know how to get rid of this algae?

That algae looks like GSA. You can take the whole plant out and do a bleach bath in 20 parts water to 1 part bleach for 2 minutes. Or you can take the leaf off.

Peace,

thanks Ryzilla, i'll try the bleach method first and save cutting the leaf to a last resort
