20G High Riparium Experiment

1 week post set-up

1 week post set-up

Hey everyone!

This is my first attempt at ripariums (and freshwater aquariums). I did have a 135G reef aquarium for a 3 years, but it has been dismantled. After 6 months without an aquarium I was starting to go through withdrawals and I just had to set something up. I knew I couldn't do another saltwater system, so I started looking around on this forum for ideas. I realized that some of these planted tanks are more expensive and require more maintenance than my reef tank! Then I found hydrophytes posts, and I knew that a riparium would be just the ticket. Easy to set-up, cheap, low-maintenance, yet beautiful (that is, his are, haha). Thus, the journey begins.

20 gallon high glass aquarium
AquaticLife 24" T5 running only 1x 24w Geissman Midday bulb
Whisper repto-filter with carbon cartridge
Visitherm Stealth 75w heater
Coralife thermometer
custom foam plant raft

wellwater w/ excess iron removed + distilled water + SeaChem Equilibrium (4 dKH, 4 dGH)

Spathiphyllum sp.
Dieffenbachia sp.
Tradescantia zebrina

Thanks for looking!
