10 Gallon Apisto tank

Hi Folks

Here is a pic of a new tank I recently done. Its a 10 Gallon or 38l. It is home to my A. cacatuoides. No ferts, no co2, 1wpg.
Thanks for looking, comments are welcomed as always.

Plants are:
Anubias
Java fern (Wide leaf, Narrow leaf and Windelov)
Hygrophila Long leaf.

Here's the local resident:

Kind regards
Cameron

It's 2:30AM, Tuesday Morning here (California, USA). What time is it where you're at?

Heh , thanks for saying hello Willem, I'm in Johannesburg, where are you? Are you keeping planted tanks? Planted tank guys are few and far between in SA! Nice to make your acquaintance.

Kind Regards
Cameron

Cameron,

Nice to make your acquaintance too!

I live in Benoni, but work in Jhb - Bank City.

At present I have a 4ft Oscar tank only, so no plants, but as soon as my house is renovated the Oscars will be moving into their new 6ft home, leaving me with their present accomodation to play with. Not sure what I'll be doing with it, except that I want plants, and lots of them!

Its a small world indeed
Let me know when you're ready to set the tank up, I have loads of stem plants and Cryptocoryne that you can have for free. We can hook up and have a cold frosty while discussing our addiction/fishtanks/plants.

There is a local mailing list, if you have'nt subscribed yet then go here and do so: www.aquatek.co.za . And of course there's www.guppiesforyuppies.co.za (it has a very nice forum full of local addicts).

Cheers for now and hopefully will see you soon

Kind regards
Cameron James

Cameron,

Small world indeed!

In any case, I hope to get working on the tank in the next three or so months, or as soon as I can have my house sorted out. At least it gives me some time to learn some of the "tricks of the trade" as my planted tank experience is non-existant at present!

Will most definitely have a look at the sites you mentioned, as you are so right when you say planted tank people ar few and far between in SA!

Perhaps a frosty isn't such a bad idea in the meantime...

Are you going co2 or non-co2? In your size tank you would need a pressurised co2 system, DIY could be a tad difficult for a 4 footer. Take a look at the different setups here and on other forums to get a idea of what each method can produce. Take it from there.
