one of my female cherries has a yellow coloration forming right behind the head. i heard from a friend that the yellow sac or coloration forms right before it produces its eggs. is this true?

Your friend is correct. I've found with Cherries that all you really need to do to breed them is keep them wet and fed. They'll take care of the rest.

weird fleas?

in my shrimp tank...u can see on the moss and the sides of the glass little crawling inhabitants...they look like little fleas...there are two kinds too...either they are two different species or one is the larval form...but i was wondering if anyone knows what they are called, and what they do...and if they are bad news...thanks

A bunch of stuff starts showing its head once you have a tank without fish in it. Cherries don't have a larval form. They are just minature versions of the adults.

are the sitting on top of the water as well as in the water? Do you notice any flies around your tank? Do you have a good camera to take a close up?

Peace,

They are probably gammarus shrimp. They look similar to fleas. I have them in my 10G cherry only tank. Little buggers....

Robert
