Got this for christmas in a gift exchange on another board.
For reference, the slate is about a square foot.

Are all of those pieces attached to each other? And then to the slate also?

the piece on the right and the piece on the top had grown together naturally to make one piece and all of them are screwed to the slate

I haven't decided what to do w/ it yet. It's too big for either of my current planted tanks. I'm thinking i'll put it in at least an 18" wide tank but dont' know yet. I'm gonna leave it alone for now till I find out what I can to w/ it.

This is the possible setup:

24"x24"x24" acrylic cube tank. I think its a used LFS tank because the sides and back are blue, but it's in good shape. I'll prob go pressurized CO2 if I can afford it. As far as fish go I don't know yet. I want a black substrate, most likely Eco-complete and maybe some tahitain moon sand I have lying around, depending on what that looks like. Scattered slate chips to make a stony outcrop look sticking out of low lying carpet like plants covering the substrate. The wood itself will be somewhat covered in moss in spots. Either java fern or windelov fern placed on the highest part. I want to plant something short to grow in the space in the middle.

any more ideas are appreciated.
