Riparium Low & Broad - 9-gallons

Riparium plantings look good in enclosure that are short and with a broad footprint relative to height.

I have a concept in mind for a riparium setup in a tank with the following dimensions:
  • Length 21"
  • Depth 14"
  • Height 8"
Taking the glass thickness into account, this should hold about 9 gallons of water.

I will have to build this tank myself, but the shorter height and shorter vertical seams should make the construction easier. I will plan to build a model first with cardboard or foam core to make sure that I like these dimensions/proportions. Can anyone guess how much this much 1/4" plate glass might cost me?

I have a few specific plant and fish ideas in mind!
