My humble 29 gallon tank

Hello,

Just wanted to get your opinion. After so many many months of trying to balance this tank, I think I've finally done it.

This tank has gone through hell and back with so many algae issues that it isn't funny. Now when I look at my tank, I feel an intense pleasure.

Thanks for looking.

Sorry about that, guess I'm a dunce, huh?

Here's a list:

1. Sunset Hygro
2. Ludwigia Peruensis
3. E. Tenellus
4. Dwarf Hairgrass
5. Crypt (not sure which kind though)
6. Baby Tears
7. D. Diandra
8. Ludwigia palustris
9. Rotala Indica
10. Bacopa
11. Anubias Nana

Substrate is 50% Eco-compl. and regular black gravel. 10 hours of light (110 watts). I fertilize 2 to 3 times a week depending on their needs.

I'm ready to go pressurized, but I'm still waiting for the regulator. In the meantime, I use DIY which gives me around 25 to 30 ppm co2.

Thanks milalic,

Then you know what I'm talking about when I say this tank has been through hell and back.

I'm just glad that it's over.

Not at all. It took a while for me to figure it out, but this is it.

After a water change (which I do once a week), I dose 20 drops of Po4 (Fleet), 20 ppm of Kno3, 1 Tbls and a 1/2 of Seachem Equill., and a 1/2 tsp of K.

The next day I dose 4 mls of Fe, 5 mls of Plantex, and 2 tsps of Mg.

The third day, I leave it alone and watch the co2. On the fourth day, I'll dose macros again, Po4 20 drops, Kno3 5mls.

The fifth day, I'll dose 5mls of Plantex, and 4 mls of Fe.

On the sixth day, I'll leave it alone. Otherwise, I'll dose Po4 if I feel that it needs it (greenspots let me know when I'm low), and 5 mls of Kno3.

On the 7th day I perform another 50% water change.

Lissette

Edit: I made a mistake with the dosage, but I edited the post to the correct regime.

I love the reds too. I could never keep these plants, but these seem to be doing very well.

so how long did it take you to get the right balance? You mentioned algae by chance did you have a battle with GW?

Well, it took almost a year to balance everything out.

I've had green water, BBA, staghorn, BGA, and fungus. On top of that, the hot weather that we had here in NY didn't do my tank any good either. Thank God for the Fall.

The last algae I fought, was green water. After installing a uv (I didn't buy this until I got sick of seeing my water green), it went away and since then, the water has been stable. I took the uv out after 8 days, so now the tank is on it's own. So far, so good.

Lissette

P.S. I should add that during the algae woes, my plants were displaying a bunch of deficiencies, from transparent leaves, dying leaves, yellowing, stunting, and pinholes.
