Triple Red Cockatoo Dwarf Cichlid (56k?)

This is my male Apistogramma cacatuoides "Triple Red Cockatoo Dwarf Cichlid". I got him from Ocean Aquarium in San Francisco, which is a really great store. You can also see a male Checkerboard Cichlid in the back, which is also from Ocean. They both live my recently replanted 75 gallon:

I thought the fish pic came out pretty well but I still have no clue about how to take good tank pics. I just have a cheap 3 megapixel digi. If anyone has any good links to info on how to take decent tank pics with cheap digital cameras then hook me up!

Thanks for the compliments. The dwarf cichlids I have now are getting along pretty well so far. They are all small ( this fish is barely over an inch) so we'll see how it goes as they grow up.

awesome man-- I'd love to see checkerboards more often. If you want to avoid aggression, I'd make some caves. Dwarf cichlid tanks are best with caves I think. Very nice job photos man!

Nice pics! I love the cichlids, and the tank is nicely done, too. Good work.

Great looking fish. The first thing I thought when I saw it was if it was from Ocean aquarium. He has some nice fish there- and very healthy. I bought a trio just like what you had pictured there and they paired off and were spawning in a few weeks. Too bad they were a little too aggressive for my tank or else I would still have them It wasn't soo bad until they bred and then all hell broke loose. Such a beautiful little fish though. BTW the aquascape ain't bad either!

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. Good point with the caves greenmiddlefinger, I am planning on having Riccia covered caves in the near future. The tank has grown up a lot in the 10 or so days since that pic was taken, I may start a journal thread.

I stupidly purchased a number of these a little guys over a year ago. Four males in a 20g. Though not nearly as magnificent looking as yours!

In my case I found the aggression between males was quite reasonable as long as there were no females in the tank. But once a single female was introduced, all h*ll broke lose!

Steve - 33g reef and a 180g planted in need of a re-scape.

Cool fish, and I really like the aquascape, especially the rocks.
