mikey's tank journal

I wanted to post some pictures of my tank. I figured I would wait for 3 or 4 months before I did while I was getting the hang of it. I used flash in this journal only to discover last week (while checking on another computer at the library) that it wouldn't work. If you find the same, please let me know. If it is just one or two I will probably leave well enough alone. If it is alot of you, I will redo my journal within the forum.

Let me know what you think!

Mike

I like the way you are displaying the tank in your journal. It looks like you had your troubles along the way as most all of us do at some time or another and you came out of it well. What are you running for lights ? I love the way the crypt is growing for you.

Good looking tank...nice job.

P.S.
Im not sure why you posted this in the "Algae" Section but since its a journal we can move it to the Photo Section if you like.

Done Mike !

So are you gonna keep the lighting a secret from me... I read where you put the 20w stock light in the attic but you didnt mention what you replaced it with. Im curious because I like the way your crypt is growing, you must be running a few watts Mike

Thumbs up

Wow, that is a very nice crypt. *Applause from a fellow aquarist trying to break out of the newb stage* I too like how you've set up your webpage. My bronze isn't doing nearly that well.

just goes to show you. I had no sense that the large bronze wendtii was large. I figured they all grow like that. I guess they don't? Heck, I figured it was going to get as big as an amazon sword eventually. Maybe thats not the case either? Thanks for the compliments on it though I had no say so in the matter, it just grows the way it wants!

No, I don't think the crypt will get much bigger. The one I bought was doing really well until I re-planted it. Then the leaves melted away and it has been having trouble re-growing ever since. They'll regrow eventually but if you don't want to see it go through all the melts, it's a good idea not to disturb the roots of a crypt once they're in place. Just thought I'd let you know in case you were going to replant anything. I think sometimes the leaves can survive a move (don't know why) but I'd hate to see that one melt.. lol
