My first real post! (36x12x12)

I've been a somewhat lurker here for a while and I figure it's time I share with you all one of my tanks. Sorry for such a blurry shot, I'll replace it later.

The tank is 36"x12"x12" made out of acrylic which I built myself.
Lighting: 96w 8800k 11 hrs per day
Co2: press. on timer in sync with lighting
Substrate: ADA Powersand and Aquasoil
Ferts: EI when I remember...
Plants: Riccia sp. Dwarf, Riccia fluitans, Singapore moss Eleocharis parvulus Hemianthus miranthemoides, Rotala wallicii Eriocaulon sp. Taiwan, Hydrocotyle sibthorpioides
Fish: Barbus barilioides (Fire Barbs), Iriatherina werneri (Threadfin Rainbows), Dario dario (Scarlet Badis), Otocinclus, SAE

This tank has been running since April and it was gone thru many changes, each time getting more minimal. there are a few things I want to do with this tank at it's present stage before I call this one done, so in essence, this is still a work in progress. Any comments and critiques are welcome.

Hey man that tank is incredible!!! Where have you been!?

Where in Hawaii do you live? I'm Steven Chong from the Honolulu Aquarium Society-- worked at Pet's Plus? Did a presentation in July? If any of that rings a bell let me know man. Wow, incredible tank. I think that's the best I've ever seen come out of Hawai'i thus far! I didn't know we had guys that good in Hawai'i! I this is even better done than Robert's tank (not to idolize Robert's tank of course, but Robert does work at it).

BTW-- what kind of rocks are those and where did you get them from?

Heh like Marc, one of my first thoughts was "Is there a bigger picture?" It's a fantastic tank. Would you mind posting more detailed shots too?

Yes! I snuggle with rats!

It almost looks like a backyard picture of one of the islands!! Very well done! Is that a foreground of riccia? I could have sworn it looks more like the "rolling" hills of HC. Well done!!

Re-boot!

thanks guys, I appreciate the love. Those of you who frequent APC might know me as Aaron on that board. I live on Oahu and am also a member of HAS. Steven, I'm the guy who was supposed to give you the Ranunculus...
I will work on posting bigger pics later, I did not realize I was shooting in in the smallest/ lowest res until I started editting, by then I was too lazy to do it all again.

All I have to say is that everyone who used Riccia in the past and gave up on it because it was a hassle, needs to give the dwarf variety a shot. I went through Utricularia sp., Glosso, Elatine and HC with this tank and I have come to the conclusion that Dwarf Riccia works the best for me.

The Rocks, by the way were collected locally. They are completely encrusted with green spot algae. Any tips on cleaning them up?

Aaron

What's so great about dwarf riccia? I've heard many people asking for it, but never seen/heard much about it.

haha, oh hey Aaron, come to think about it I thought there was something about this tank that seemed familiar.

I actually like the rocks all algae encrusted-- very nice. I'm surprised the otos have let that stay around.
