Talking My 10 gallon with custom canopy

Well I have been here for awhile now, and now that my canopy is finished thought I would show off all the hard work Russ and I did.
So without much chatter here is a pic of the overall tank with canopy system:

Side view(sorry it looks so dark):

Close up of just the tank:

And finially a view with the lid open showing that we stained the tank :

The tank has been running about a year now, and has lived through a cross-country trip. The canopy was built recently. Boy was that a chore! There are two 24 inch bulbs, and I am trying to rig up another bulb. The only occupants are cherry shrimp, of which I got from catwoman, four rasboras, and an otto(named tails junior). Any comments or suggestions most welcomed. And is anyone interested in a custom made canopy?

That would be nice, but I was trying to go for a desktop look.

Wink

LOL Mike!!!

It actually came about because the tank is 20" long, and we have a 24" light sitting over the top of it. So the including the filter, and CO2 bottle was an after effect. but turned out really nice I think.

Looks great!
Even if that side cabinet is an afterthought, it's neat.
Did you go from a set of plans for the canopy or just planned as you built?

Well andyg, I started with a basic design, we knew the size of the tank, and the siz of the light. Being a architecture drafter, I used AutoCad to generate a model of the thing. We used that as instructions as to how much wood was needed, point loads to make sure it could hold up when the cabinet is removed, and a guess at what it would look like put together. It was a learning experience let me tell ya.

If anyone wants an in depth look at what was used, and how much it cost in the end if someone else would like to make one, just let me know. I wish this started as a journal. but I didn't get my digital camara till recently.
