1st Attempt at Scaping

Phew, finally moved this weekend. I was able to begin to set up my tank.
This is my first attempt at a layout, and I would like to get some feedback.

What do you think?

I will begin to plant next weekend after I have settled on my scape.

Balance is good, but imo the stones are a bit too "tight" around each other. Sloping of the substrate is good as well. You won't be able to plant much between the stones unless that's your intention.

The left grouping is too close to the side of the tank. Move it closer to the center so it's roughly on the 1/3 line.

I agree. Move the left rock grouping over to where the most right rock is almost to the middle, more or less. That will put your grouping where I would want it.

Planning to use HC for foreground with Four Leaf Clover (Marsilea drummondii) near rocks. Eleocharis vivipara, Tall stems or Val for back. Densely planted, but mostly foreground.

I think you're all set on the scape. Very nice. It has a lunar look right now with that black background.

There are 2 types of people on this forum. Those that have algae, and those that lie and say they don't.

HC Planted

Planted HC today. I think I added to much water. I will let some evaporate. Dosing Excel in the mean time.

I will post some more updated pics of the tank soon. Still growing emersed.
About 50-60% of the floor is covered with the HC.

Looking for suggestions for mid-ground and background plants. I would like only 1-2
species per area as to keep the layout simple. I was thinking of Four Leaf Clover
(Marsilea drummondii) for mid-ground and some sort of val for the background?
I wouldn't mind a little red in there too, but I am not a fan of big leaves.
Any suggestions? I am running high light with a pressurized CO2 set up.

Vox, I think your layout looks very nice. I like the way pogostemon helferi (Downoi) looks near rocks when planted with HC. They tend to give the appearance of small shrubs and create a nice transition zone in the mid-ground.
