time for an upgrade. (56k)
Well this is the start of what promises to be a healthy journal in the months to come. my place has been in a bit of chaos lately with new tile, new granite counter tops and new paint going basically everywhere. so my tanks have been moved, some have been sold and others are simply being taken down. the biggest of these decisions was to take down my nano zeovit system reef. As much as I love the diversity of a reef system, I do not like being unable to leave it alone for 2 days plus if i want to go camping, or fly to MACNA or whatever without losing 1.3 of my corals. that being said it has all been sold and i have been prepping to replace my 2.5 year old 50 gallon. some of you may remember said tank
its using 3 x Vertex Illumilux LED strips and has flawlessly grown nearly everything i throw at it. however it is a hagen tank, and is showing its age. So I decided to upgrade it!
I got a SCREAMING deal on an Oceanic Illuminata 57 gallon. I believe it will fill the bill nicely. I also picked up a full ADA substrate kit. As this will be my first larger than 15 gallon ADA tank, documenting the triumphs and failures is a must!
I'll post some pictures of the tank, gear and hardscape materials later on today!
