Cool My first journal! - ADA 60P

I finally got around in making my first journal.. .. I am pretty new to this so be nice!

I am currently on my second scape now. In 2010, I picked up my first tank and started my scape.

After a couple of months it turned out like that.. (Though I pulled out the Crypt Parvula out from the front later on).

Since I moved to a different city in 2011, I had the opportunity to redesign it.

Current Equiptment:
ADA 60P Tank
ADA Advanced CO2 system
Eheim 2213 Filter
Hydor ETH200 inline heater
Archea 2x24 T5HO fixture

A load of junk laying around.

In the beginning.

Recent picture but very algae-fied (excuse the Iphone photos).... ... I need to get a better camera.

I am trying my best to keep the algae away from the rocks but it just doesn't happen. Bad news is that already there is a large population of beard algae that won't go away.. (annoyed).

I'm also thinking of adding more plants in the back to add dimension... I USED to have a huge slope of soil but now it is flat.. Don't ask me how it went away.. But I am more than welcomed for any suggestions to make my tank better! Thanks!

Hi ,
A very nice tank .

Some tips on beard algae.
The favored conditions by this algae type is aquarium water with high hardness, low CO2 levels, and high pH. The high nitrate levels are also a trigger of growth.

Background Plants recommend , Didiplis Diandra , Cabomba Piauhyensis , Rotala Rotundifolia ,Eusteralis Stelata . Are red plant in the tank you need them, my favorite HZ.
Good luck.

Thanks Clau for the suggestions! I am trying a different fertilizer dosing regime and higher levels of CO2. Hopefully that will do the trick...If not, back to the drawing board I go. As for the plant suggestions, I have been looking into a mixture of red plants. I heard there are certain fertilizers/additives that can be added into the tank in order to enhance the color?
