Ben's 13.3 rimless bowfront Blue Pearl wonderland (with true violet LEDs)

Hey everyone! Time for a change from my 20 long!

Was setting up a waterfall-style reef tank using two rimless Mr. Aqua tanks, a 17.4g, and a 13.3g bowfront, and I figured I'd get a bowfront to replace my 20 long because it is just so stinkin' sexy!

The back of the tank will be painted black, and Black Diamond blasting sand (or Tahitian Moon Sand if I have any left after my reef tanks) will be the substrate, with root tabs put throughout.

I'm not sure what to do about filtration and circulation. I can get an Aquaclear 30 or 50 or whatever, but it will be large and noticeable on the tank. I am considering having a sponge filter combined with two Koralia Nano 240GPH or two Hydor Pico 100GPH. The Nanos are larger than the Picos (obviously lol) and move a lot more water, but they have a very, very broad and gentle flow pattern.

Lighting will be custom LEDs. I will NOT be using CREE. I will be using Luxeon Rebel ES from Steve's LEDs. They are 5650K and are $3.50 each, while also putting out more light than a comparable CREE (the XM-L is the only CREE stronger, but also more than twice the price for a ~15-25% difference). In addition to the whites, I will run two 420nm true violet LEDs running at all times to really make the blue pearl shrimp's colors POP! For moonlights I'll probably pick up a GU10 bulb and put some screen mesh on it to lessen the light output.

Total cost for lighting is less than $70 including a heatsink to put the LEDs on and to mount them to the wall behind the tank in a fashion that is wife-approved.

Livestock will be a couple of otos (I lost about six of them when moving from my 55g to a 20g, even with feeding), a farlowella (lost the other one), and a single cherry shrimpie until I get my blue pearls.

CO2 will be DIY, it's amazing what brown sugar, tap water, and yeast will do!

Ferts will be a bottle of Flourish Comprehensive when I remember it, which hasn't been often so far lol.

Plants will be some blyxa japonica, peacock moss on a piece of driftwood, flame moss also on a piece of driftwood, some microsword, and Amazon frogbit on the top.

I think that's everything. Not sure when I'll be buying the tank. Technically I've already got one, but it's going into my waterfall reef setup. Hopefully I'll have the other tank and the lights and everything here in a few weeks! I'm also transferring my 55g reef into a 60g shallow tank, so that will take most of my time and all of my money!
