New 10 gallon Betta Breeder!!!!

Deceided to try and breed a pair of bettas ( also wanted an excuse to start another tank ). Just setup last night. Used water from cycled 90 i have already.

These are the soon too be's awaiting their bigger home. If anyone has any suggestions or past experience breeding bettas let me hear it.

you might not want to hear this, but that tank you set up last night is unsuitable for breeding and rearing.
use a 10gal filled halfway (so only 5 gallons of water in it), no substrate, no airstone (bettas dont need it anyway).

for 2-4 weeks condition the pair. feed lots of healthy frozen and live food. allow the female to see the male for periods of time. when she is full of eggs and has a protruding ovipositor, its time to breed.
the cycled (not just cycled water, but biomedia) 10 gal filled halfway should have a heater set to 80-82F. a sponge filter (set to very low, or the surface ripples will break the bubble nest). some plants for cover. some floating plants or dried leave (indian almond or oak). acclimate the pair to it. release the male, and place the female in a clear "chimney" (i use a clear 1L soda bottle with the top and bottom cut off). after the male has built a sufficient bubble nest, release the female. observe for aggression.
after 12-48 hours, they will spawn. after that you need to remove the female ASAP. after the fry hatch and become freeswimming, remove the male. feed microworms, vinegar eels, bbs, egg yolk, or/and atisons betta starter. as they grow offer larger foods. fill up the tank over the course of the next 3 weeks, diluting waste while the fry are too small for WCs to be safe. after they are 3 weeks old, preform daily water changes (min 50%) to maintain growth. at 2 months youll need to start jarring males.

i dont have any pics of it.

you cut the bottom of a soda bottle, and cut the thin portion off the top. then place it upright into your tank forming a vertical tube.
