First Planted Tank

Hi All,

I started my first planted tank earlier this year. I've had plants in tanks before, but this is the first time that it has been about the plants rather than the fish.

I've done a fair bit of reading on this site, but only just signed up, so I figured I would post what I have done so far (the pictures are a bit blurry).

It started off like this:

Then grew a bit:

I then re-shuffled things and added a bit more petrified wood:

Moved the hair grass from the corners to the middle:

and here it is as of the other day:

Its pretty full. Everything grows really fast. I trim most of the plants weekly, but I should maybe be a little more aggressive as it is very bushy in there.

I was thinking of maybe changing the wisteria for something else because it is filling up heaps of room, but the shrimp seem to like it in there so I am a little reluctant.

It has a bit of algae, but nowhere near as bad as a few weeks ago when I had a 4th light.

Feel free to comment or make suggestions

Is that water sprite on the right? I had one of those and it grew so fast that it overwhelmed the other plants. Had to pull it out.

Are you running CO2? I started a couple months ago and my plants have tripled in size.

The one that takes up most of the right corner is wisteria I believe.

I have trimmed it and re planted the tops a few times.

It just has DIY Co2, 3 2lt bottles running through an air stone that is inline with the filter intake tube.

I got a drop checker and it shows that I need more, so I am pricing a proper co2 setup at the moment

I haven't come across that brand in my browsing of local on-line stores. I will keep it in mind
