akdylpickle's 10g emersed tank

This is my first attempt at an emersed tank. Its a standard 10g with a couple 15 watt bulbs on the standard hood. This tank was set up yesterday 12/31/11 I was wondering if anyone could tell me the names of some of the plants? Ill post closer pics of the ones I need help with tomorrow. But right now its time to go to sleep (:

So it seems that I have put to much water in the soil. to help that I moved the top so there is a 1in gap so air can escape. The problem is some of the plants are starting to dry out. So what can I do to help this? thanks

Very nice! I think you have correctly ID'd them.

To get rid of the excess water, with a tank this small, I just turn the tank on its side, while holding the dirt and plants back with my hand. To keep the plants moist, just mist lightly every now and then.

Looking good!

Yep, Caton seemed to have given you some good advice.

Looking forward to seeing this tank hit it's stride. It will be stuffed in a month or two!

Thanks! Yeah I can't wait. Do you think it would help to put a small little t5no on the tank? With the ludwigia repens I can see a lot of die off but some new little leaves. Hopefully next week I can get some dwarf hair grass "Belem" cause that's what I want in the 90 when it's setup

The more light the better in my opinion! Yeah, you will get a lot of die off, but they should bounce back! Just make sure the actual stem doesn't dry out and you are golden.

More light on an emersed tank is almost always better. Bit of advice for the hairgrass; grow it in containers, it will keep it a lot easier to maintain.

Set it up in an empty 10g and you will have it full in no time.

Downoi is a cool plant. I'll have tons available soon.. Submersed though.

I was farming it emersed for awhile, but threw it all into my submersed tank because it propagates quicker that way.

What does the die off look like and how long until the plants bounce back? The ludwigia is looking a little dried out...
