LArifleMAN's Severe Mess of a Tank

My whole planted tank obsession started when I stumbled onto this sight about 2 months ago. I had a spare TruVue 55gal tank with a stand that was just sitting outside not doing anyone any good. I tried to sell it but no one wanted it. So I convinced the wife unit to let me start up another tank.

So here is my list of stuff:

Filtration: AC50(bio) and Aqueon 50/75(mechanical) along with a Penguin 550 for circulation

Lighting: My horrific DIY hood made out of a folded up oil pan and 8 26W CFL's(probably way overboard)

Substrate: MGOPM capped with Caribsea Black sand

No CO2 currently

Dosing Excel once a day, Comprehensive once a day, and 10 pumps of Green Brightly Step 2 once a day. 30% water changes each week

Critters:
11 Rasboras
4 Black Skirt Tetras
4 Zebra Danios
7 Corries, not sure what kind
3 Bolivian Rams
2 Apistos Morado
2 Lemon Cobra guppies
1 Betta
1 Common Pleco, temporary

Not sure of all the plants:
Glosso
Anacharis
Swords
Java Moss

Mother Fing Algae

First Started about 4 weeks ago:

New DIY lights 2 weeks ago, only 4 bulbs:

Why not make a light strip? It's really cheap and has a lot of diverse options. And I thought you're only supposed to dose comprehensive once a week, and twice on some occasions. You may be supplementing the algae growth by dosing everyday, but i don't know much about plants yet. Just my two cents:P

Ok, no real change in progress as of yet, I am noticing some good growth though on a few of the plants.

I ordered 2 Aqueon 500gph circulation pumps off of Amazon because there is quite a bit of detritus building up on the bottom of the tank. If both running turns out to be too much I'll just use 1.

Also because of the Wag.com sale, I was able to pick up a Fluval U4 for $28. Now I just have to figure out where I'm going to put it. I was thinking of mounting it horizontally in one of the corners? Any suggestions on it's placement and optimum placement of the Aqueons?

Cool design, interesting rock placements in the branches though... are they going to be a site for moss growth or similar?

3 planted tanks: 60L/15.5G; 40L/10G and 20L/5G

That wasn't my original intention, they were just there as weights to hold down the wood, but now that you mention it thats a really good idea.

Ok, the male Morado croaked today

Updated tank shot as of a few minutes ago

Fluval U4 hidden

Dual Aqueon 500gph circulation pumps that came in today. These things are pretty awesome. Great flow, nice and soft, the top feeder love them.

And the good that came out of today, my order of 2 pairs of Apistos Cau. from ApistosDave
