65 Gallon Low Tech :) NEW PICS 1/18

Hello, I made an earlier post but did some major changes so I just decided I would start a new thread on it, if a mod can delete my old post that would be baller.

Anyways, the tank is a 65 gallon flat back hex. Used to be a reef, tore that down, made it a peacock tank (didn't work out, I couldn't find more large peacocks and don't want to order online so they were beating the [censored][censored][censored][censored] out of eachother so I just decided it would be best to rehouse them).

So now I'm back. I don't have any huge fancy lights or co2 systems so this is going to be relatively low tech. I was going to keep a sand bottom (left over from the reef) but it kept buffering my pH up which wasn't going to fly in my books. So last night I tore everything out and replaced it with 50 lbs of gravel and 20 lbs of flourite. I havn't the slightest idea fish wise or plant wise.

Comments and suggestions ALWAYS welcome, good or bad.

STATS:
65 gallon flat back hex (48 long, 16 deep with cut off corners)
Fluval 305 with floss and carbon and biomax
36 inch coralife 2 bulb t5HO and a 30 inch 2 bulb t5RO
50 lbs gravel
20 lbs flourite

FISH:
I have NO ideas. At all...haha Throw ideas at me

PLANTS:
Anubia Barteri
(crypts and swords, vals, etc. future. Low tech)

Add some stuff and it cleared up a bit.

Added 2 red ozelot swords, some vals, and red wendtii cryps. Still a long way to go, I'm debating pulling the vals out and replacing them with nana vals as these italians get way to big and I don't feel like having them shade out the rest of the plants. I still have more than half of a tank to fill with plants so we'll see how this goes..haha

I also got 10 big cardinals today from the lfs. Hopefully I'll be adding about 10 more in the future, if not more. I have no other ideas for tank mates yet, this tank is going to be probably 4 or 5 species in big schools with a centerpiece fish (no ideas for these yet either). I'll pick stuff up as probably I see it, like it, and buy all of them at the store idea..haha Suggestions still welcome.

I have a coral life 36 inch t5ho with the 67k and full spectrum bulbs. I also have a 30inch regular t5 on there in the back.

Been a while but here're some updates:

Fish all died, left with 4 cardinals. No idea why. First batch of 10 were perfect, added 10 more a week and a half later and now im left with 4. Because the lfs is out of cardinals and I needed osmething in the tank I went with serpae tetras. Cheap, hardy, colorful. I also picked up 2 LFABNP.

More plants as well.

Current Stock:
12 Serpae Tetras
4 Cardinal Tetras (adding more hopefully)
2 LFABNP

Plants:
Ozelot Swords
Italian Vals (hopefully replacing with nana vals)
Crypt. balansae
Crypt. wendtii 'red'
Crypt. lutea
Crypt. parva
Anubia barteri
Micro Sword (not doing so hot but its changing over from emersed growth to submerged)

FTS:

Left Side (parva lawn, wendtii red):

Right Side (micro sword, lutea):
