blackjackaj's 55T Planted Hi-Tech Paradise

Hi all. This is my first legitimate go from the ground-up with a planted tank. I added a few plants here or there in my old low tech, but then I found this site and... well... the rest is history.

Dimensions: 36x15x24 Diamond edge Visio

Lights: Custom 3x39w T-5HO retrofit with LED moonlights, three separate switches, built by Catalina Aquarium (Thanks for answering my Q's Hoppy)

CO2: Custom Airgas dual stage reg (thanks Bettatail!);Sera Flow 500 reactor; 5lb canister

Substrate: 100lbs Ecocomplete

Ferts: Pfertz (NPK+M) + Flourish root tabs

Filtration: SunSun 404B

Glass lily pipes, Hydor 300w in-line heater

Flora: Glossostigma elatinoides, Vallisneria asiatica, Microsorium pteropus, Vesuvius sword, Eleocharis acicularis, Cryptocoryne lutea, Ludwigia repens

I have a breeding pair of Angels waiting for their new home, along with a set of german rams and 3 golden ocellatus. I'd love suggestions on some schooling fish additions or Amano type smaller fish!

I'll try and keep this fairly regularly updated. Plants are growing well so far.

I like it, I think the fern will grow nicely on the drift wood.
Is that java moss on the other parts of the driftwood? I started my tank out with moss on the driftwood but am not the biggest fan of it 2 months later but I've found its actually pretty slow to grow.

The vesuvius sword on the left seems a bit out of place but it's hard to go wrong with that plant, it just looks so cool.

Thanks for your comments -- it is Java moss. And I've actually since moved the Vesuvius, good eye! I'll post an updated pic either tonight or tomorrow.

Here's day 5. Added 8 nerites and two flame mollies just to be sure my cycle has completed (can't hurt my angels). I seeded the filter from my other canister.

Amazing, it will look better once the plants start taking off.

Looks like you added some new fish, they look really good. I see roseline sharks... and some type of rasboro (they look large, harlequins?)

I love the shots with the h20 floating from the plants... the tank looks really well balanced and is definitely doing well! It's cool seeing how much it has grown since your earlier posts.

If you post more pictures could you zoom out so we can see the whole setup? Also how long until you start adding in those breeding pair of angels? =)

16 Harlequins and 3 Roseline Sharks. They are truly beautiful fish. I'm really pleased with the growth of the crypt, moss and the vals. Having a bit of dark green hair algae problem at the substrate that I need to get rid of. Can anyone tell me what the weird light green tree-like growth coming out of my moss is?

Looks like a nice start!

Do you plan on adding any more roselines, or just sticking with 3?

Oh, is that REALLY how moss grows? Ooops....

I think I'll stick with the three redlines. Once my Angels and rams are in I think the tank will fill out nicely.
