14G Biocube Dirted

This is the journal of my 14G Biocube Dirted tank.

I experimented a lot with this tank after getting it from a friend.

Usually my tanks are just a jumbo mess, this is the first time I actually put some thought into it.

This is the start using egg crate to keep my edges level.

This is a picture of the gravel filling in along the edges. I used some pea gravel from home depot.

In hind sight I would have gone two rows on the egg crate.

I also forgot to wash the gravel...

This is a picture of me capping the dirt with gravel. I was so tired when doing this, I completely forgot to take a picture of the dirt.

I used miracle grow organic choice.

The normal light would have been too much I think, so I replaced one of the 24 watt bulbs with a 13 watt.

I started to siphon the water, while putting fresh water in. Trying to vacuum up all the silica.

Soon as it started to clear I placed a piece of driftwood I had been saving for a smaller tank like this in it.

I removed the false bottom in the first chamber, and moved my heater into it.

I added plants. I am embarrassed to say, that I only know the in the corner is an amazon sword. I am unsure of the rest.

The CO2 setup that was originally supposed to be for my friend came in. Along with the drop checker. The CO2 is standing upright now also.

The flow was too much for the smaller stems I had originally planted, so I replaced them with some beefier stems.

Also added a jungle val to the back right corner.
