Water Change
1/4 KNO3, 1/2 Potassium Sulfate, 4mL of Phosphate solution (1 ml = .25ppm)
Alternating days

Right Side

Left Side

I am thinking about either not going planted tank with this tank and save the light for later use, or move puffer into some other tank. Here he is

What do you guys think?? All the clippings are from my 75G tank. Thanks for looking and any comments are welcomed

I would be careful with the toadhouse, if it is made out of resin it might dissolve in the tank.

If the toadhouse has resin you could always use a terra cotta pot...

Give it some more time to balance (looks like staghorn on the middle back plant) and it should be nice. I like the puffer, anything else going in there?

Re-boot!

I don't know if the toadhouse has resin in it. I'll ask my wife if she knows anything about it. Nobody else lives in the tank beside the puffer. I want to get an army of Otos if I can and maybe throw in 1 Florida Flagfish in it.

How long do you think it should balance out? This tank goes thru nutrients really quickly. This is the second week of running this tank.

Thanks,
FMZ

One more comment/question

I have a pressurized CO2 tank on my 75 and I tried a gang valve to inject CO2 into both the tank. This caused the levels in 75 to go down and in 30 go extremely high. Also, I think my 75 was barely getting any CO2.

Do you guys know of any gang valve that might do the trick? Or should I stick to DIY CO2??

Thanks,
FMZ

Check the sponsors' web sites. I think aquatic-store sells such a valve. IMO give the tank a few more weeks to settle in (with a good level of CO2). It is still very early.

I am thinking about alternating the lightning period btwn my 75 and 30, so i can use pressurized CO2 on both of my aquarium. I have a gang valve which sucks.

Hi. Nice tank! I am getting a 30 gallon cube this weekend. I noticed that you have the 96 watt Coralife fixture for lighting. Do you find that it provides enough light? I am trying to make an informed decision on lighting.

Thanks,
Tina

To be honest with you, i think its doing fairly well
Coralife cost i think cost around $90 for the fixture itself, but it doesn't come with the correct bulb. Bulb cost in nieghborhood of $30+

LFS owner was selling his slightly used fixture for $100 and swapped out the bulb for me for free. Now that's a killer deal and I didn't pass it up.

I am growing almost all the plants I cant grow properly in my 75. Like Bacopa Carolinia Hygrophila Gigantica...even though I am not sure what's the true name of that plant. Also a plant that looks like Ammania Gracilis or Limnophila Aromatica.

I would say go for it, and buy the legs for it for better coverage of light.
Let me know what you decide on though

Yes, but he's a brown puffer...atleast pushing 3.5" right now...and very aggressive puffer from what I've read so far. And he's a ambush puffer too...wait in his cave and then strike.

I would love to get some Ottos but I dont want to sentence them to death

Also that would be dwarf puffer with Ottos, not giant puffer like this one
