My Journal

I decided to tear down my 55 gallon and start over. I purchased a new tank because the old one had numerous scratches.

I purchased 6 bags of Flourite, a bunch of plants from AB, pressurized C02 tank with dual regulators and Ph controller.

In this first pic I have already painted the back black. The driftwood has been added in the flourite. The Riccia has already been placed. The Hagen ladders will be removed as soon as pressurized C02 is hooked up. Hopefully today. Still waiting on the plants to arrive. A couple of problems arose of course. The outlet /inlet on the Rena is 3/4 inch and the inlet/outlet on the reactor is 1/2 inch. Neither Lowes nor Home Depot had the reducers so I ordered parts from Marine Depot. The glass hoods are about 1/16 inch to big. Will see if I can have those ground down today. Will post more when later. The original size pic was sharp. When I reduced it, it became a little fuzzy.

What sort of response were you expecting?

Seriously, wait til you've got your plants in and people can get more of an idea of what your ideas are for this tank!

Less blurry photos would help too

I for one am always interested in seeing other people's tanks at different stages, I don't always comment but I like to look none the less.

Yes it is, I had it in other aquarium. The Riccia is already starting to poke through the grids. Still waiting on plants and C02 regulators to show up.

C02 reactor is hooked up (water flow anyway), just hooked up U.V. sterilizer. Will have more pics this afternoon hopefully.

I like the Rena. It is very quiet. The filter changes are very easy.

Wow, what a week, never worked so hard in my life. I need to go back to work to get some rest.

Below are some pics I just took today.

Still have much planting to do.

Below is the Riccia starting to poke through the grids. The Milwaukee ph controller is just waiting on the C02 regulators, as am I. Should be here today, been saying that for a couple of days.

Will post more as new things happen.
