10g for the home office

just got this set up last night.

Some clippings from my 55g.

substrate is a mix of eco complete and basic pebbles.

question regarding the co2... i'm using excel and am not noticing the color of the drop checker change at all... how much should i be dosing for highlight? there is no fauna in the tank at this point so i don't have an issue with over dosing excel

excel will not change the drop checker. It is a liquid, what a drop checker is used for is to check the levels of co2 gas in the water as it is released from the water.

I have a 10gallon and the lady from Aquaforest, said a cap full on water changes and the first line of thread every other day. I just have 2 13watt CFL bulbs though. I also have the Hagen DIY Co2 kit as well.

Some people overdose it occasionally to fight algae. It does seem to do a good job. Some plants are sensitive to it, and will melt.

I don't really like Excel when It comes to high-light tanks. It never really worked out for me, algae still came.

I use it along side my pressurized system in the flora with no ill effects. Just a little added failsafe lol

Lookin good! but since the plants aren't rooted lower the light and the co2 until the plants get rooted, until the plants are rooted they aren't really taking in that much nutrient so its building up and u will get an algae bloom.

i suppose tackling this like my 55 would be incorrect...with the 55 i planted it (heavily), ran highlights and co2 right away and within the week it was set up had ferts being dosed w/ some guppies in it. i've got top soil under eco complete too... i had a little cloudy green water for a couple days a few weeks ago... but other than that the tank has been solid and running like a monster concerning growth.

I suppose the 10g with less water and less plants probably shouldnt be ran as hard
