Took me a while to get that one to where it is today. The substrate was an experiment, one worth doing :-).
I used a product called "Oil-Dri" it cost me less than 10 bucks for all the substrate in there. I got it at Wal-Mart & it will be my future substrate of choice in all tanks. The stuff is awesome. It has a high CEC rating and after about a month of fertilizers it will grow anything I have tried including dwarf hair grass and glosso. I do the"EI" thing on the 55 & 75 and used osomocoat in gel caps. Works great
I did have a lot of BBA in the 55 so I adjusted the CO2 a number of times with the use of a drop checker. The thing is about as close to yellow as you can get. The PH (last I checked) runs around 5.5. It was in this tank that I, or should I say the panda cories had a few spawns. I know because I found three pandas, each as if from a different spawn as their size seems to indicate so.
