rdaled's 20 AIO

Hey everyone! This is my first shot at a low tech planted tank. Here is what I have so far.

Tank: Innovative Marine Nuvo 20
Light: Marineland LED Strip Light
Filtration: Poly-fill, lava rock
Heater: Eheim Jager 50W
ATO: Tunze Osmolator Nano 3152
Substrate: pool sand
Scape: Mopani wood
Plants: Java fern, Anubias nana petite
Fish: Cardinal tetras, Corydoras habrosus
Cleaning crew: Zebra nerite, Tiger nerite, Albino bristlenose

Adding plants slowly, and sticking to the "easy" ones. Plan to add java moss and monte carlo next, and then maybe a red tiger lotus or banana plant.

The anubias are doing great, both plants have two new leaves in just the first week.

Started with 9 cardinals but 3 died off in the first few days after adding, not sure why since all parameters where in check. The corys seem to be pretty happy, they are too cute!

Insights and suggestions welcome!

Had trouble with the dwarf corys and smaller cardinals getting sucked into the overflows.

I decided that adding window screen over the overflows would be the best solution. Initially I had planned on gluing them on, but after test fitting them I realized once they got wet they stuck pretty well on their own.

Definitely was a simple and effective solution. They are very simple to remove, clean and reinstall.

Window screen is a great fix isnt it?
A friend sent me some pieces that I used to make my Fluvel Flex and V safe for shrimp.

Tank is looking great and welcome to TPT

Thanks!

I added a couple small rocks and some monte carlo, but I'm not sure the MC is staying. What I have envisioned for my tank is ever evolving the more I look at other tanks.

Not sure what the "Mystery plant" is in the back right... creeping jenny maybe???

Still dealing with melt on the buce and banana plant. Also, some of the dark green leaves on the coffeefolia have started yellowing. A new leaf did unfold, but it is yellow as well. The red tiger lotus seems to be doing well and growing. I am dosing Easy Green once a week.

I feel like there is something else I need to do besides wait.

Here are my current parameters...

pH 7.0
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 20
KH 2
GH 3
temp 74
