5 gallon nano tank

Thought I would start a journal of my 5 gallon tank. I have had this tank up in my attic for a year and a half. It was band new and never started up. I had planed on setting it up as a planted tank but ended up buying a house and it was put on the back burner. So when I got the bug to start up a planted tank again I remembered the tank up in the attic. The last tank I had was a 55 tall planted tank that I ended up selling to help buy my house...

So here it is......

I have ordered a filter, heater and black sand flourite. My plan is to take a media from my 110 gallon tank and use it in the new filter.

I have some HC coming to me that I will grow out before I put water in the tank.

Not sure what kind of fish I will put into it yet.

well that's it so far. Can't wait to get all the equipment and get it started!!!

my heater, filter and flourite came in and I can't wait to get the tank started! I would like to paint the back of the tank black but not sure what kind of paint to use. Can I go out and get any spray paint or is there a specific kind of spray paint to use?

I just bought a nano diffuser and bubble counter.....going to try DIY co2 that I got off of [Ebay Link Removed] This will be my first time ever using co2 so will see how it goes.

Hoping to work on painting of the tank this week and set up the tank this weekend.

Any help would be great!!

so I took out the fake cave rock work. Once the tank was filled and I put the anubias rock in there it took up the entire tank. The tank was clearing up nicely until i took it out so it went back to cloudy. Hoping to get a clear shot of the tank tomorrow.

Any ideas as to were I might find so good wood to put in the tank?

so got my HC and anubias in today! got it right before i had to go to work so it is just sitting in the tank right now. hoping to plant it this weekend as I will be working 12 hour days until then. Might need to make a stop at petco to see if there is any cool rocks or driftwood so I have a hard scape. Anyone wanting to sell some interesting looking hard scape for a 5 gallon tank? if so pm me with some pics and prices!! thanks

so I thought I'd update the tank......planted the HC and it is NOT easy to do when you don"t have the right tools!

I have put the cave back in and planted anubias on it.....I had it in my 110 tank for 4 hours and my barbs eat them all!!!! so I only have stubs now

I wanted to try growing this tank in sunlight to see how it will work. Haven't started the CO2 yet

Was wondering if I would need any dosing in this tank if I just used natural light? I also am going without a lid and was thinking on going with shrimp..just need to decide what kind.

any advice on this tank would be great.....thanks
