80G planted tank in Amsterdam

Dear fellow hobbyists,

I would like to share my new planted tank with you guys. But first let me introduce myself. I’m Bjorn and im living in Amsterdam, Holland. After keeping reef tank’s for over 10 years I decided it was time for something new. So last year I started my first freshwater aquascape. This is a 30G tank with mainly Crypt’s, moss, Anubias, Echinodorus and Ferns. A year after starting this tank I decided I wanted a bigger, high-tech tank. So here it is:

Tank: 120x50x50cm (about 80 gallon)
Lightning: 2x AI prime freshwater
Filter: JBL greenline 1501
Co2 injection with atomizer
Flow: ecotech mp10
Heating: aquamedic titan
Dosing unit for Easycarbo & fertilizer
Chihiros Doctor nano 4

The hardscape is made of spiderwood and black lavarock with ADA amazonia aquasoil. I also added some extra rootsticks to (hopefully) increase the plant growth. The tank is running for almost 2 months now (without light) because I wanted to give the bacteria and aquasoil some time. Last week I started planting the tank en today I added the 'cleaner crew'. Tomorrow I will add some Bacopa amplexiaulis to fill the empty spot in the back.
The plants I used for this scape are:

10x Montecarlo
6x Ammania bonsai
6x Pogostermon helferi
6x Pogostemon erectus
5x Red tiger lotus
6xRotala rotundifolia ‘orange juice’
6xRotala macrandra Mini Type 4
6x Alternanthera Reineckii mini
2x Bucephalandra Theira red
2x Bucephalandra Biblis red
10xStaurogyne repens
3x Microsorum pteropus

Current life stock:

10x Amano shrimp
6x otocinclus

Well... thats a long story. Time for some photo’s

That's looking good Bjorn. I've got a similar aquarium and am looking forward to seeing how yours turns out.

Thanks Phil! I'm very curious what the tank will look like in a few months.

Welcome!! Beautiful start!

If a tank is scaped in Holland, shouldn't it be automatically a Dutch scape?

So far so good.

The plants start growing and the colours are changing much faster than I expected!
Unfortunately one otocinclus died. I have been told that that the amount of these fish that survive shipping is low. The others seem to do fine so there’s nothing to worry I
Think.

I’ll upload some new photo’s tomorrow!

Most plants are growing fast! I even had to trim and replant some of the stems. Especially the Reineckii mini and Staurogyne repens needed a bit of trimming.

I also added 10 Paracheirodon simulans and 5 Nannostomosus marginatus. In my other thank I already have the same amount of these fish so they will be united. Eventually I’m willing to keep the following fish is this scape:

20x Paracheirodon simulans
20x Hyphessobrycon amandae
10x Nannostomosus marginatus
3-5x Dicrossus filamentosus

8x Otocinclus cocama
9x Corydoras sterbai

15x Amano shrimp
and many Neocardina shrimp

I’m still looking for a nice species for the surface. But my tank is rimless so thats a bit of an issue.

The tank is doing well! The PO4 levels were staying very low (0.31 ppm) so I decided to add some more fish and stop doing big water changes every other day. The next few weeks I will change 40% of the water 2 times a week. When the aquarium is more balanced I will cut this down to onces a week. The reineckii has holes in some of the older leaves, I think this has to do with the low PO4? Thoughts anyone?
