60g planted angelfish tank

Hello everyone. I wanted to share with you a tank I have had for years and recently rescaped it. This is a 60g tank that was my first planted tank. It has been through 8 or so different scapes over the last 7 years and this is the latest one. hope you all enjoy and if you have any opinions about the tank then please feel free to voice them.

tank: 60g tank
lighting: 3 18w par38 5000k led bulbs

light schedule: 5 on - 4 off - 5 on

filtration: eheim pro4+ 350
co2: none as of now
substrate: organic potting soil capped with pool filter sand
decor: seiryu stone and spider wood
heater: 200w eheim jager heater( set at )
fish: 5 angelfish and 7 rummynose tetras

I set the tank in this style scape using play sand which was a big mistake. To make a long story short diatoms and 3 different algae set in bad. I decided it was bad enough to pull everything and give it all a hydrogen peroxide bath and start again. 80% of the buce species I had died off from the algae and then they didnt like the h2o2 bath. Here it is now with these plants until I can get more buce in there. I am still in the process of figuring out where I want things planted.

Your hardscape looks great. Can’t wait to see it with more plants!

Glad you like it. 2 days ago I got a shipment of 6 buce(unknown species) that was actually 8 and I got a nice portion of bolbitis huedelotii. I also planted a few crypt walkeri and crypt becketii.

Ty and yes it has gone much better! Diatoms are at a minimum and algae is pretty much gone.

Ty. I also love them. Such elegantly beautiful fish.

That they are and they seem to be. There are the occasions where they do their usual "get away from me" aggression but 95% of the time they cruise around as a group. Ty for the kind words.

Thank you very much to everyone who liked this. Glad I made a tank that is appealing to others. I always like to see that people enough my creation as much as I do. Hopefully my next pictures will be better with my new camera.

Little update on the tank. Things are still going great. All the buce are now putting on new leaves. Algae is still at a minimum. Seems to be just a bit on a few buce now. The Val's have gone absolutely insane and I have actually sold about 8 nodes of them. Really can't even tell I did. They are now reaching from one side of the tank all the way to the other side at a length of about 3 feet(tank is 36 inches long). You can see the end of one in the top right at the top of the heater. The pogostemon erectus I started with has died off down to 2 stems left which I expected. It does way better in high light and co2. Over time I had added a total of 25 rummynose tetras and only had 4 survive. I decided adding more a go 1 more time and if enough of them don't survive this time then I will be switching them out for something else. I added 12 more to give me a total of 16 right now. I drip acclimated them this time for 4 hours vs. the old temp acclimate then drop. Lets see if that makes a difference. Still don't have my new camera since I spent the $300 for it on a new 25g cube tank and stand.

Did you lose an Angel? Or am I just not seeing the 5th?
Notice any pairing behaviors?

Nah haven't lost any yet. The 5th was probably off behind the driftwood. I haven't notice pairing behavior but truthfully I don't really know what to be watching for. Guess I should go look that up. here ya go. picture of all 5.

Okay- very nice.
Be nice if those 2 Marble's would pair up. Good shape and color to them.

What you will mainly see is increased aggression- 2 fish against the others ( chasing, primarily)- typical cichlid behavior.
Picking at leaves, driftwood, or wall as they clean a spawning site.

ok so considering what you said and what I looked up about pairing the marbled in the bottom left of the last picture seems to show some of these tendencies. seems to protect that corner it is in, constantly chasing the other angels away and kind of picking at some of the plants in that area. now with that said it is aggressive to all of the other angels. it doesn't ever seem like 2 of them roam together or team up on the other angels. none of the other angels show this behavior other then everyone charges everyone from time to time.

Thanks, but I have some already- and it is not terribly happy in my tank yet, or taking a long time to adjust. Not growing very quickly yet.
