First week of January started dry start method on the moss betta cave with fissidens fontanus using yogurt method, spayed 2 times daily with aquarium water

Second week of January setup the tank

* mineralized organic potting soil
* ADA Amazonia cap
* Dwarf hairgrass & s. repens to be planted this weekend
* The yogurt from the moss smelled like a sewage system for a couple weeks

March 19th 2019 - flooded the tank and added CO2 to ease transition to immersed growth, probably could have continued DSM for a little longer

Finally added some shrimp to my dirtied tank. Seems to be coming along fine. Had some melt after flooding and now some new growth. Need to make / find a lid for this 10g before I can put our betta into his new home.

Would need a cutout for the hob and the aqueon lid has that plastic hinge right where the light would be.

Need to trim again, things seem to go well..

The moss is a bit of a maintenance headache. Any clippings grow to little trees in the grass and are a pain to remove.

Currently I take out the whole moss hill, put it into a large tub of water and clip it there..., not sure of a better way

Timogen the Betta makes his name and hunts any cherry shrimp he can see. There still are small ones hiding in the grass. He also chased an Amano out of the tank, but I found it before it dried out

Nice tank! I am experimenting with adding CO2 to my tanks and am hoping they will eventually look as good as yours

Good bye big moss hill!

The tank splintered some glass at the edges and needs to be replaced. Petco has the waterbox 10g clear on sale, so I pulled the trigger. I want to change the scape a bit.

My aspirational goal would be more something like this AGA contest entry: https://showcase.aquatic-gardeners.o...3/show562.html

Moved some plants around this weekend to see how that looks / feels. Also I need to grow some straight stems again. The Ludwigia Natans Super Red was just a big tangle when I finally tackled it. I think I used maybe 5% of the bush I had . Also the DHG got a shave so it grows a bit dense again before I cut it into turf pieces for the new tank.

I plan to make two more moss stones. Also I think of adding some fine leafed plant behind the Ludwigia (Rotala 'Vietnam H'ra' ?) and something more coarse in front of it (Bucephalandra red mini?).

Timujin (the Betta) is in the guest tank until there are some more hiding places for the shrimp again.

What shape should the hill be ?

I am thinking either the square hill or the pointed out triangle (last series).

Did a one day scape a few weekends back while the family was out. I think I would have wanted a little more flat area, but I hope once the grass grows in again I can cheat a little.

The sod idea worked in most areas. Some of the roots are visible though. I hope once things grow in it will all be forgiven.
