40 Gallon "Medium Tech" build
So, moved into our first house and we finally have the room for a tank that is not in a corner and forgotten like my old tank that had been running for quite some time. I have set up a 40 gallon tank that I refer to as "medium tech" as some methods are from the high tech side and some are from the low tech side.
Lighting is one 24" Current USA Satelite 24" LED fixture and one fluorescent tube which at some point will be upgraded to something better
Substrate is organic potting mix capped with play sand.
I am running an aquaclear 70 HOB filter
Hard scape is locally found rocks and Oak branches with a few pieces of driftwood from the old tank
Plants are Eleocharis Parvula (Dwarf Hair Grass), Hygrophila difformis (Wisteria), Microsorum pteropus (Java Fern), Vallisneria (Jungle Val) and Echinodorus Bleheri (Amazon Sword)
Co2 is the mid sized Fluval disposable regulator with an adaptor on a paintball tank feeing a Hagen bubble ladder. I operate it manually and check levels with a simple drop checker
Stock currently is a school of White Clouds saved from the feeder tank at my LFS, a fish I believe is highly under rated. AS the tank matures I will be adding shrimp, Guppies and assorted live bearers, Corys, and some Otos
Thanks for you interest in my project I will update this as things progress
