150 Gallon Iwagumi
Starting a build thread for my new 150 gallon tank 72x18x27. Ill post pics soon. This is my first attempt at planted tank but I have been in the fish hobby for about 26 years. My equipment I have purchased so far is as follows. (2) penplax cascade 1200, (2) 48 inch fluval planted 3.0, c02 art pro reg from coop, 125lbs of exotica mountain stone from caribsea. 150lbs BDBS to use as a cap over soil or worm castings . (1) 5lb c02 tank. I have not yet decided on plant selection but I can tell you the scape will be two large mountains. I would like a large amount of fish either cardinal tetras or rummy nose and some Siamese algae eaters assuming they are ok with BDBS. A few questions to start off.
1. Can I just run a split after my regulator into (2) diffusers? If so what part would I need?
2. To build up my large mountains I would like to avoid anaerobic dead spots and was wondering if I can use crushed lava rock as a base pile then top it with soil and bdbs.
3. Should I just skip the soil and use bdbs with root tabs if I do decide to use heavy root feeders?
4. Should I use RODI and add back to my water or just use tap and dechlorinate?
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks for reading.
