Talking Shrimp Rack

Hey guys!

Starting up a new shrimp rack to get back into breeding. Just thought I'd share and answer any questions. I haven't added any shrimp yet. hopefully next month. They are cycled with betta fish. I know that I want to breed high grade CRS, Blue Bolts, Tangarine Tigers, Black Neo's, Blue Neo's, and Fire Red Neo's.

- Six 10Gallon tanks and one 30 gallon breeder
- The stand is build out of 2x4's
- Lighting is beamswork LED's
- Filtration is a aquaneat 300GPH air pump running 8 dual sponge filters
- Substrate is fluval shrimp stratum for Caridina and pool filter sand for Neo's
- Using RO water and Salty Shrimp GH/KH to remineralize

Very Much looking forward to this! Sounds like you're on top of things, but there's also a Salty Shrimp Bee shrimp version that just does GH+
ůmay help your active substrate last a little longer, fwiw...

How'd you design your 2x4 rack?

Can't wait too see updates here

I also have a container of the GH+ that I may end up mixing with the HG/KH. I don't want zero KH because I'm concerned that the pH would crash and that is not good for the bacteria. I want a KH greater than zero but not more than 1. Right now I'm running at TDS about 150 and that gives me a GH of 4-5 and a KH of about 1 and a pH of about 6.6-6.8. My Active substrate is about an inch thick. I may start to mix half GH/KH and half GH+ so the pH drops down a bit lower but still has enough kH to remain stable. Flip aquatics also uses the GH/KH mix and runs at about 6.8 pH.

The stand was a design I got from DIY King
aqua-botanicae and KayakJimW like this.

still trying to decide on how many and what type of snails I want. Hesitant to adding something like ramshorns because I don't want them to take over.
