100L Planted Project

Hi
My son and I set up a new 60L planted tank for our White Cloud Minnows a while back and It's given us the bug to attempt a higher-tech project.

I have no exact plans with décor or scapes at this stage although we'd like to try keeping shrimp and as it's a tall and narrow tank I like the idea of long vertical branches covered in moss, Anubias and ferns etc.
On the bottom Crypts and micro sword would be nice with minimal hardscape.

Here's some specs:

The tank's an old Aqua One curved glass, 24 x 20 x 13", 27gal/100L, ex turtle tank with the dock removed.

2 Door cabinet for filter,co2 and other gear.

Filtration: Eheim 2213 filled with 40 Marine Pure spheres.

200w heater

Lighting: Will probably go with an Ai prime freshwater, I have 2 HD26's on my marine tank and really like them.

Substrate: 2L Ada Power Sand small covered with 9L Amazonia.

Since filling the tank 4 days ago I've done a 50% water change daily using water from my 2 other established freshwater tanks to help kick start the cycle
and it's already cleared up nicely.

No ammonia spike as of yet?

My plan is to let the tank fully cycle for a few weeks while I save up for the light and co2 gear and look for some nice wood.
Please feel free to comment!

Hi All

It's been a long time since my initial post so here's where we're at now:

Added a co2 system about a month or so after start up

For lighting I decided to try an old fixture from my marine tank with just the white channel
on, which is 20 x 3w, 6500k cree led. I run it now for 6 hrs a day as I was getting too much algae.

The plants went nuts and within a few months the tank turned into a jungle. 7 Endler
guppies and a dozen Cherry shrimp were added and they multiplied like crazy to but we could only get glimpses of them!

I gave it all a good trim recently, took out half a large bucket full of cuttings and the tank looks much better with room
for the fish to swim, there's dozens of them!

Here's a quick vid to:
