Shaolin's Aquamaxx 22 Build

Hey Guys,

I have a new build that I am working on using an Aquamaxx 22 Gallon tank. Currently I am in the hardware testing phase of the build.. I'm making sure the tank is level and making sure everything works before I start the scaping phase. As mentioned in a separate thread I am having issues with my light; So once that gets rectified we will start seeing hardscape and plants.

I've ran CO2 for several years.. been in this hobby 10-12 years.. but this will be my first canister + lilly pipe setup. I had a little money in my pocket and got a custom stand built here locally in Dallas TX.

Rundown of what we are working with:

- Aquamaxx 22 Gallon Long (36"x12"x12")

- Finnex Planted+ 24/7 CC

- Hydor 250 Canister Filter
- Jardli 13mm Lilly Pipe Outtake
- Jardli 17mm Diffuser Intake

- Pressured: Used from previous builds..
- Yagote CO2 Drop Checker

As mentioned, I have a couple hardware issues that I am currently working on. MAINLY, it's the light which decided to get stuck in 1 mode after a couple hours of use. I am working on figuring out and/or returning that fixture before I go further with hardscape and plants.

Additional to that.. I have traditionally injected CO2 directly in the tank. Granted this is the first time running canister filters - I might buy an inline CO2 diffuser instead.

I'm very happy to be building again. I shut down 4 tanks (saltwater, planted fresh, & terrarium) during my move from Minneapolis to Dallas. I'm well settled in now here in TX... I just want 1 tank to focus my time on.

I will update as the weeks progress.

Any input or suggestions is always welcome!!!

Nice long tank. What kind of scape are you planning to do?

I have been wishing for quite some time now to setup a long tank and do a Iwagumi style scape.

Iwagumi I have been set on.. I've done nature aquariums for years.. It's in my heart.. but I want to take on a harder challenge than just stem plants and EI.
I have a decent resource for Seiryu stone here locally; but if I can't find what I want I'll do a spiderwood nature aquarium.

It all depends on the hardscape I can source in the next couple weeks.
