Low Budget Planted 40B

I'm new to planted tanks, though not new to fish keeping. We have lots of great resources here in the Seattle area, and after reading books, attending talks, watching videos, reading a ton of posts here, I finally took the plunge. This hobby can be expensive! I've tried to cut costs wherever possible and concentrate most of my money on plants.

Here's the start:
40B on sale ($50)
Stand ($160)
Play Sand ($5)
Landscape rock ($43/ton, but a $20 minimum--I bought 200 lb for $20 and used about half)
Lava rock for filler ($7)
Eco Complete black planted substrate from previous tank
Yescom 129 LED light ($43, 30 par at substrate)
Aquaclear 50 HOB ($35)

Bump: A couple more photos of setting up the hardscape. This tanks sits right in a corner with windows on two sides, but no serious algae problems so far (knock on wood). I guess it really is gray and cloudy here in the NW.

Nice start, I really like those rocks too. I'm always interested in low budget projects, makes things more interesting and "out-of-the-norm". Following along, I'm excited to see where you take this.

Any ideas on plant or fish?

How dirty was the play sand? I've used it before without issue, but I've heard of people complaining about all the contaminants in it.

Thanks! Play sand is pretty dirty. I've used it before with no problems, but I do rinse it first, a lot, like 20 times.

As for plants and fish, I'm trying to go small to make the tank look big. I actually started this project at the beginning of November and I'm gradually catching up the journal to its current state.

Plants to start:
Weeping moss, java moss, flame moss
Ludwigia repens, ludwigia arcuata
Rotala
Anubias nana, Anubias nana petite
Buce tricolor, Buce Melawi mini, Buce belindae, Buce Sintang, Buce Godzilla
Hydrocotyle triparta
Cryptocoryne parva, Cryptocoryne pink flamingo
Micranthemum Monte Carlo
Dwarf lily

First inhabitants:
7 Amano shrimp
1 Betta splendens (Zeus!)
7 Otocinclus

Here's a full tank shot one week after planting:

And the ruler of the tank, Zeus:
